It happened Monday, Feb. 10 at approximately 6:15 a.m. in Bay Shore.

Mary Barbato, 74, of Bay Shore was walking on Moffitt Boulevard, near Brentwood Road, when she was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. 

Barbato was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical condition.

Detectives believe the vehicle may be a red SUV with possible front-end damage. The driver fled westbound on Moffitt Boulevard and southbound on Brentwood Road.
